Group 1 racing and The Enchanted Forest at Flemington this weekend

An incredible month of racing at Australia’s premier racecourse begins tomorrow with Australian Guineas Day presented by 3AW, featuring the $1 million Group 1 Australian Guineas (1600m).

A family-friendly day, Australian Guineas Day presented by 3AW promises a day full of activities for children of all ages, set against the backdrop of elite Group 1 racing at Flemington.

The Enchanted Forest on the west end of the front lawn is the perfect place for children to explore, with fantasy characters, scavenger hunts, stage shows and amusement rides including a maze, a pirate ship and a tea cup and saucer ride.

Parents can be assured of fresh and healthy food for their little ones, with Gnomes Kitchen on the front lawn offering tasty bites such as gnome sliders and fairy smoothies to refuel from all the fun in the Enchanted Forest, while a La Revolucion food truck will offer Mexican food for all ages.

The Enchanted Forest complements the Flemington Family Lawn which features water activities including a water slide and sprinklers, outdoor lawn games, face painting, balloon artists and a caricaturist.

To help keep cool, there’ll be complimentary sunscreen, free water at all venues on course, and misting fans. All indoor venues are air conditioned and there’s plenty of outdoor umbrellas across the racecourse providing shade.

VRC autumn ambassador Brooke Hogan; Australian Guineas Day family ambassador Brooke Cotchin and her children with her Richmond captain husband Trent, Harper and McKenzie; and influencer Olivia Anderson and her children with partner Shane Crawford, Jack, Harry, Ben and Charlie will be among those soaking up the fun at Flemington.

On the track, a quality group of three-year-olds horses will do battle in the Australian Guineas at 2:45pm as they look to etch their name on an honour roll that includes champion horses such as Zabeel, Apache Cat and Miss Finland.

The race brings together some of the country’s best three-year-olds, including Amphitrite, who is currently the $4.40 favourite with TAB, from Tasmania’s super filly Mystic Journey ($4.60).

The undercard includes the Group 2 Blamey Stakes (1600m), which features a host of horses trying to earn a wildcard entry into The All-Star Mile, and the Listed Roy Higgins Quality (2600m), named in honour of one of Australia’s most decorated jockeys, Roy Higgins MBE.

The VRC has taken additional measures to ensure the health and safety of both participants and horses on Australian Guineas Day presented by 3AW, including a dedicated VRC staff member to assist in equine welfare measures in the horse stalls; misting fans in the pre-parade ring, horse stalls, tunnel entrance, mounting yard and vet block; bottled water and icy-poles being readily available for all racing participants; bottled water being distributed by VRC staff to every strapper in the Mounting Yard; split system coolers in vet boxes; undercover tie ups with fans and hoses in the vet block for post-race recovery under veterinary observation; and presentation rugs being displayed but not placed on horses post-race.

Gates open at 9:55am. Tickets, including hospitality packages, can be purchased here.

Children under 16 and accompanied by an adult are admitted free to Flemington all year round
