Super Saturday featuring the Super Garden Party

Victoria’s premier autumn raceday will be held at Flemington tomorrow, with Super Saturday bringing together some of Australia’s best thoroughbreds, alongside the finest food and wine from around Victoria as part of the brand new Super Garden Party.

VRC autumn ambassador Brooke Hogan, Super Saturday special guest, international model Alannah Walton, VRC Official Stylist Elliot Garnaut and VRC ambassador Georgia Connolly will be among those soaking up the fun at Flemington.

As part of the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival, the Super Garden Party will be located in the picturesque setting of The Elms at the west end of the Flemington front lawn. There racegoers can indulge in eats from Pontoon, Cheek, Atlas and Colours Bowls, Millstone Patisserie and Glacé while sampling craft beer and wines from across Victoria, including the Yarra Valley, Mornington, Macedon and Great Western regions at the Hop Harvest Bar and the Grapevine Bar or indulge in cocktails at the Cocktail Quarter.

Racegoers can dance the afternoon away to upbeat live music on The Elms stage. Featuring an energetic performance from Nicky Bomba and The Super Ska Band, sassy vocals from the vivacious Maya and a mean party set by DJ Mimi. With fun, festival vibes, this is the place to be as the raceday comes to a close.

The Super Garden Party takes place right next to the famous Flemington track, where an impressive nine-race card will capture the attention of racing fans far and wide.

The $1.5 million Group 1 TAB Australian Cup (2000m) is one of Flemington’s oldest feature races, and this year’s runners will look to add their name to the honour roll of winners that includes Saintly, Lonhro, and Makybe Diva among other greats of the turf.

A firm TAB favourite is the James Cummings-trained Avilius ($1.80), who has 14 rivals, with five runners from the Lindsay Park stable including last year’s TAB Australian Cup winner Harlem and three runners from the Lloyd Williams operation in Almandin, Rekindling and The Taj Mahal.

Australia’s most prestigious sprint will be run as Race 6 at 3:15pm, with the $1.25 million Group 1 Seppelt Wines Newmarket Handicap (1200m) offering the chance to witness some of Australia’s best sprinters in action.

Osborne Bulls leads the TAB market for the Seppelt Wines Newmarket Handicap at $4.00 from a host of chances including Graff ($9.00), Eduardo ($9.00) and Sunlight ($11.00).

Also on course at Flemington, TAB will have a special offer of Free Swing in the Last, where racegoers can place a bet on any of races 1-3, and get a bonus bet back up to $50 to use on the last race. The VRC encourages responsible gambling.

Recently retired hero Who Shot Thebarman will join former champion Fields of Omagh from Living Legends at Flemington on Super Saturday so fans can pay tribute to their respective achievements.

To keep the children entertained there will be an abundance of activities on the Flemington Family Lawn, including lawn games, face painting, and balloon artists.
