"The filly has only had six trips to the races, but she has already established herself as a star on the rise."
Plucked from NZ by OTI Racing's Terry Henderson, she has been one of many flag-bearers at the top level for the famous navy blue and gold hoops. There is one man that will never forget her name, especially, and that is Warrnambool trainer Aaron Purcell.
Having taken over horses from the Ciaron Maher yard due to the latter's suspension, Purcell chalked up his first Group 1 winner thanks to Aloisia's strong performance in the Thousand Guineas. He was not long back from an overseas holiday when he got the call from his good mate Maher to take over, and it led to G1 glory thanks to this filly and also Merchant Navy.
And for those that know Purcell well, there couldn't be a more humble and deserving trainer to have reaped the rewards in a tricky situation.
She might just yet give him a few more thrills in the autumn too before he has to relinquish her back to Maher.
