AGE WEIGHT CAREER WINS GROUP 1 WINS PRIZE MONEY FIRST RIDE APPRENTICE TO
18 50kgs 244 - $9,950,666 Stan the Man, 2015 Darren Weir

  • "At just 16, Ben Allen rode half the card at a day out at Benalla. Since then, his success has grown with a Group 2 Herbert Power Stakes to his name."

Ben Allen's talents have been noticed by many since starting his apprenticeship, and never more so than when he was the one chosen last minute to take over the Melbourne Cup ride on Thomas Hobson in 2017, after Hong Kong superstar Joao Moreira fell earlier in the day.

He'd already showed he could handle the big moments having finished fourth on Lord Fandango in the Caulfield Cup.

The 18-year-old has been honoured with being a stable rider for Australia's leading trainer Darren Weir and is often seen riding trackwork for the champion trainer right across the state. It's an association that has already proved fruitful, with Allen having already recorded more than 200 career wins.
